Major Progress on Troubled PR1MA Projects

  • 31 out of 34 sick PR1MA housing projects (20,470 units) have been completed as of April 2025.

  • The remaining 3 projects (2 in Melaka, 1 in Kedah) are targeted for completion by year end.

  • Minister Nga Kor Ming credits the turnaround to ministry intervention and supportive stakeholders.

Firm Action Against Failing Contractors

  • Contractors or company directors responsible for project failures without valid reasons will be blacklisted.

  • Blacklisted parties cannot participate in future KPKT or PR1MA tenders.

Residensi Bandar Ekar (Rantau) Completed

  • RM172 million project with 766 landed homes (1.5- and 2-storey terraces).

  • 752 units sold at affordable prices (RM165K–RM224K).

  • Includes a surau, kindergarten, and playground.

  • Project began in Feb 2017, delayed by Covid-19 and material/labour issues, but now fully completed.

  • Phase 2 of this project is planned soon.

Accountability in Other Public Projects

  • MyKiosk: Some local councils found negligent. They’ve been given 30 days to rectify or risk further action.

  • Melaka Waste-to-Energy Plant (Sungai Udang): Talks with the concessionaire ongoing. Nga wants a “voluntary, win-win” deal.
