Major Progress on Troubled PR1MA Projects
31 out of 34 sick PR1MA housing projects (20,470 units) have been completed as of April 2025.
The remaining 3 projects (2 in Melaka, 1 in Kedah) are targeted for completion by year end.
Minister Nga Kor Ming credits the turnaround to ministry intervention and supportive stakeholders.
Firm Action Against Failing Contractors
Contractors or company directors responsible for project failures without valid reasons will be blacklisted.
Blacklisted parties cannot participate in future KPKT or PR1MA tenders.
Residensi Bandar Ekar (Rantau) Completed
RM172 million project with 766 landed homes (1.5- and 2-storey terraces).
752 units sold at affordable prices (RM165K–RM224K).
Includes a surau, kindergarten, and playground.
Project began in Feb 2017, delayed by Covid-19 and material/labour issues, but now fully completed.
Phase 2 of this project is planned soon.
Accountability in Other Public Projects
MyKiosk: Some local councils found negligent. They’ve been given 30 days to rectify or risk further action.
Melaka Waste-to-Energy Plant (Sungai Udang): Talks with the concessionaire ongoing. Nga wants a “voluntary, win-win” deal.
